How to add a magnet link

Adding a transfer

How to add a magnet link; Adding a .torrent file instead of a magnet link.

A magnet link starts with magnet:?xt=urn:btih: and points to torrent metadata. Paste it into gettor to begin.

Adding one

  1. Copy the magnet link from wherever you got it.
  2. Open your dashboard and click into the bar at the top of the page.
  3. Paste the link and press Fetch.

The transfer appears immediately as Queued and runs on gettor's servers. Your connection is used only when you later download or stream the finished files.

Checks before a transfer starts

Before starting, gettor checks that your email is verified and that a transfer slot is available. Torrent size is checked after metadata arrives.

Note: If the link is rejected immediately, it is not a valid magnet link. Re-copy the full link and try again.

Where the files go

When metadata is ready, a folder named after the torrent appears in Your files. Open it to access the files.

Adding a .torrent file instead of a magnet link

gettor accepts a .torrent file up to 1 MB, uploaded from the same bar as a magnet link.

A .torrent file contains the metadata directly, so it can usually start faster than a magnet link.

Uploading one

  1. On the dashboard, use the upload a .torrent file link beside the magnet bar.
  2. Choose the file.
  3. The transfer is queued as soon as the .torrent file is read.

You can also drag the file straight onto the bar. See Pasting and dragging for the shortcuts.

The 1 MB limit

The .torrent file itself must be 1 MB or smaller. This limit applies to the metadata file, not the size of the torrent's content.

Careful: If you see “That is not a .torrent file.”, choose a valid, fully downloaded .torrent file.
