Copyright and takedowns

When content is removed from your library; The repeat-infringer rule.

When gettor receives a valid copyright notice about material in your library, the named material is removed and you are notified by email.

What is removed

Only the content named in the notice is removed. The rest of your library remains unchanged, and a single valid notice does not close the account.

If you think it was wrong

You can submit a counter-notice using the requirements in the Copyright Policy. The usual restoration window is 10 to 14 business days. Send it to the abuse address, not general support.

Careful: A takedown immediately invalidates outstanding download links for the removed content.

The repeat-infringer rule

Three valid copyright notices within 12 months result in account closure.

Three valid copyright notices within 12 months are treated as repeat infringement. The account is closed and its library deleted.

Repeat-infringer closure is permanent. Upgrading or creating another account does not reverse it.

What counts

Only valid notices count. A withdrawn notice or one successfully answered by a counter-notice does not count as a strike.

Note: The Copyright Policy also notes that knowingly false notices may carry legal liability.
