Deleting files and folders

Deleting

Deleting files and folders; Why files may disappear.

Use the trash action to delete an item. Deleting a folder also deletes everything inside it. You must confirm before deletion.

Deleted files cannot be recovered

gettor does not keep deleted copies. Neither you nor support can restore them, and any existing download or playback link stops working immediately.

What it gives back

  • Storage is freed immediately and reflected in the storage meter.
  • Deleting files can make room for transfers that were blocked by a full library.

Careful: Deleting a file does not restore downloads-and-streaming allowance already used.

Why files may disappear

Files can be removed by retention expiry, a plan ending or shrinking, or a copyright takedown.

Reaching a storage limit does not delete files. Automatic removal happens only for the reasons below.

1. Retention expiry

Files have no automatic expiry on any plan. They stay in your library until you delete them.

2. A plan ending or shrinking

When a paid plan ends, files without an expiry receive a recovery deadline and then expire. The exact timing depends on how the plan ended.

3. A copyright takedown

Content removed after a valid copyright complaint is deleted from your library. gettor emails you when this happens.

Tip: If none of these reasons fits, check Account for your current plan and any active grace or recovery period.
