How storage is counted

Storage

How storage is counted; Freeing up space.

The storage meter counts file contents in your library. Folders do not count.

Reservations

Running transfers reserve the storage they are expected to need. This prevents multiple transfers from being admitted into the same remaining space, so the meter may change before a transfer finishes.

A cancelled or failed transfer releases its storage reservation immediately.

GB means 1,000,000,000 bytes

gettor uses decimal gigabytes: 1 GB = 1,000,000,000 bytes. Your operating system may display a slightly different size if it uses 1,024-based units.

Freeing up space

Delete files you no longer need. Storage is freed as soon as deletion completes.

Delete files to free storage. The space becomes available immediately, so a transfer blocked for storage can be retried right away.

Where to look first

  1. Sort by Largest to find the files using the most space.
  2. Delete files you have already saved elsewhere if you no longer need them in gettor. The library is not a backup.
  3. Check for duplicate folders from a transfer that was added twice.

Tip: If you want a local copy before deleting a folder, download it as a ZIP. The download still counts toward your monthly delivery allowance.
