Your first transfer, step by step

Your first transfer

Your first transfer, step by step; Where your files appear when a transfer finishes.

Once your email is verified, follow these steps.

  1. Copy a magnet link for content you have the right to download. A well-seeded open-source ISO is a good first test.
  2. Open the dashboard, paste the magnet link into the transfer bar, and choose Fetch.
  3. Wait for the torrent details to load. A folder for the torrent appears in Your files.
  4. Open the folder and choose Download or Play for the file you want. Adding the torrent alone does not download files to your device.
  5. Files listed in your library can be fetched on demand. Keeping the torrent entry does not mean every file is permanently stored on the server.
  6. Use the library rows to download, rename, move or delete items.

Tip: You can close the tab while a transfer runs. Turn on transfer-complete email notifications in Account if you want to be notified.

If something stops

A failed transfer shows the reason. Common first-time causes are no available seeders or a torrent that exceeds the Free plan's 2 GB single-torrent limit.

Where your files appear when a transfer finishes

Finished files appear in a folder named after the torrent inside your library.

When a transfer finishes, gettor creates a folder in your library using the torrent name and preserves the torrent's folder structure.

Getting there

  • Look in Your files, directly below the fetch box and active downloads.
  • From elsewhere in the app, choose Library in the header. Open the torrent folder to see its files.

They are yours to rearrange

Files in your library can be renamed, moved, organized into folders, or deleted. Removing a transfer from the dashboard does not delete its library files.

Careful: Files have no automatic expiry on any plan. They stay in your library until you delete them.
