“This torrent contains file paths that are not safe to store”

When a transfer fails

gettor rejects torrent paths that cannot be stored safely in your library.

The full message is:

This torrent contains file paths that are not safe to store (absolute, over-deep, or over-long names).

Before saving files, gettor validates the torrent's filenames and folder structure.

  • Absolute paths that try to write outside the library folder.
  • Folder structures nested beyond the supported depth.
  • Filenames longer than the storage system can safely support.

What it means for you

This usually means the torrent was created with unsupported paths or filenames. gettor will not store it.

Tip: If you control the torrent, rebuild it with ordinary relative paths and supported filenames.
