“No metadata arrived in time”
When a transfer fails“No metadata arrived in time”; “The download made no progress for too long”.
The full message is:
No metadata arrived in time — the torrent may be dead or have no reachable peers.
gettor needs torrent metadata before it can download content. This error means no peer supplied it in time.
The usual causes
- The torrent may no longer have reachable seeders.
- The magnet link may be incomplete or copied incorrectly.
- The torrent is private and only reachable through a tracker that requires an account.
What to try
- Check the source for seeders. A torrent with no reachable seeders may not be downloadable.
- Re-copy the full magnet link and try again.
- If you have a .torrent file for the same content, add that instead. It carries the metadata with it and skips this step.
Note: Nothing is counted against your allowances when a transfer fails here. No content was downloaded.
“The download made no progress for too long”
Metadata arrived, but the transfer stopped making progress.
The full message is:
The download made no progress for too long — no reachable seeds.
This error occurs after metadata has loaded. The torrent is known, but content stopped downloading.
Why it happens
A torrent can have peers without a reachable seeder that holds the pieces you still need. gettor eventually stops a stalled transfer instead of holding capacity indefinitely.
What to try
- Check the seeds and peers shown on the transfer card. A healthy torrent normally has reachable seeds.
- Try again later. Seeder availability can change over time.
- Find a better-seeded copy of the same content if one exists.
Careful: Fetching from peers has no separate monthly quota. Startup preparation (about 5% of the largest file) counts toward the delivery allowance before you click Download; downloads and streaming to your device count separately.
