Things that look broken but are not
Looks broken, isn’tThings that look broken but are not; “Reconnecting…” on the dashboard.
A transfer sitting at 0% with no progress bar
It is fetching metadata. The size is not known yet, so there is nothing a percentage could measure. The bar becomes real the moment the file list arrives.
“Waiting for capacity”
Transfer capacity is full. The transfer keeps its place and starts on its own.
A transfer that went back to “Starting”
gettor is recovering the transfer. Progress is not lost.
The dashboard says “Reconnecting…”
The live update connection dropped. Transfers are unaffected; the numbers catch up when it returns.
Deleting a file did not free monthly allowance
It freed storage, which is a different meter. The monthly allowances count traffic and only move at your monthly reset.
Clearing finished transfers did not delete anything
Correct — the dashboard lists transfers, the library holds files. Clearing tidies the first and never touches the second.
“Reconnecting…” on the dashboard
The live progress feed dropped. Your transfers are unaffected and the display catches up.
While the dashboard is open it holds a live connection so progress arrives as it happens. When that connection drops, the page says Reconnecting rather than silently showing stale numbers.
Why it drops
- A network blip, or switching between wifi and mobile data.
- A laptop waking from sleep.
- A tab that has been in the background long enough for the browser to throttle it.
What it does not affect
Anything real. Transfers run on gettor’s servers; the connection only carries the display. It re-establishes on its own, and the figures jump to current when it does.
Tip: If it will not reconnect, reload the page.
