Pasting and dragging: the quickest ways to start a transfer
Adding a transferPasting and dragging: the quickest ways to start a transfer; Why you must verify your email before adding a transfer.
Two shortcuts save a click each. Both work anywhere on the dashboard, without clicking into the bar first.
Paste anywhere
With the dashboard open, press Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on a Mac). If your clipboard holds a magnet link, it is dropped into the bar and the bar takes focus, ready for you to press Fetch. If it holds anything else, nothing happens — pasting a paragraph of text into a page does not fill the field with rubbish.
Drag a .torrent onto the page
Drag a .torrent file from your file manager onto the magnet bar and release. The bar highlights while a file is over it, so you can see the target before you let go.
Tip: Neither shortcut skips any check. A dragged or pasted transfer goes through exactly the same email-verification, slot and size checks as one added by hand.
Why you must verify your email before adding a transfer
Transfers are blocked until the address on your account is confirmed, and the banner at the top of the app will say so.
A new account can sign in and look around, but it cannot start a transfer until its email address is verified. Attempting one returns:
Verify your email address before adding transfers — check your inbox.
Verifying
- Find the message titled “Confirm your gettor email”.
- Open the link in it. That is the whole process — there is no code to type.
- Return to the dashboard. The banner disappears and the bar accepts transfers.
If nothing arrived
- Check the spam folder. A first message from a new sender often lands there.
- Use the resend link on your account page rather than registering a second time.
- Check the address itself on the account page — a typo at sign-up is the usual cause, and it can be corrected there.
Note: Signing in with Google verifies the address for you, because Google has already confirmed it. There is nothing to do in that case.
