Cancelling a transfer
Managing transfersCancelling a transfer; Cancel and delete: which does what.
Every transfer that has not finished can be cancelled from its card. Cancelling takes effect immediately: the temporary copy is deleted, and the capacity it held is released for someone else.
The confirmation past 10%
Below ten percent, Cancel acts at once. At ten percent or more the card asks you to confirm, because that much progress is worth a second look before you throw it away. There is no way to resume a cancelled transfer — re-adding the same magnet link starts it from the beginning.
What cancelling gives back
- The transfer slot, immediately.
- The storage that was reserved for the finished files.
- The transfer capacity it was holding.
Careful: Deleting files does not refund downloads-and-streaming usage for bytes already delivered to you.
Cancel and delete: which does what
Controls that look similar and do quite different things — only one of them touches your files.
The Library page shows your files and the downloads still running. A download that has finished is its library rows — it does not stay on the page as a separate entry.
| Action | What it does | Touches your files? |
|---|---|---|
| Cancel | Stops a transfer that is still running. | No — there are none yet |
| Delete transfer | Removes a finished, failed or cancelled transfer from the dashboard list. | No |
| Delete in the library | Deletes the actual files and frees the storage. | Yes |
Why you cannot delete a running transfer
Trying returns “Cancel the transfer before deleting it.” Cancel first, then delete the transfer from the list.
Tip: Clearing the dashboard only tidies the list. Your library and storage are unchanged.
