What you may use gettor for
What you may fetchWhat you may use gettor for; Does gettor seed or upload what it downloads?.
gettor is for content you have the right to download: open-source software, public-domain and freely-licensed media, your own backups, and other legitimate uses.
What is never permitted
- Material you do not have the right to copy.
- Child sexual abuse material — this results in immediate termination and a report to the authorities, with no notice and no appeal.
- Malware, or anything intended to attack other systems.
- Redistributing or reselling access to gettor itself.
- Working around the plan limits or the bot check.
- Attacking or probing the service.
gettor does not choose for you
It is not a search engine, an index, or a catalogue. Every transfer starts from a link you supply. That is also why the responsibility for what you fetch sits with you.
Note: You must be 16 or older, and one person may hold one account.
Does gettor seed or upload what it downloads?
No. Transfers download and stop; gettor does not seed back to the swarm.
gettor does not seed. A transfer downloads what you asked for and stops; nothing is uploaded back to the swarm afterwards, and there is no ratio to maintain.
What this means for you
- Your files are never distributed to anyone else by gettor.
- Private trackers that require a ratio will not see contribution from a gettor transfer.
- Nothing you fetch makes you a source for other people.
Note: This follows directly from the service not being a way to distribute files. Your library is private, and so is everything that happens on the way into it.
