Is my library private?
PrivacyIs my library private?; What gettor collects about you.
Your library is private to your account. Files can be listed, downloaded or played only after access is checked.
What that means concretely
- Files are stored per user and are never pooled or shared between accounts.
- Every download and every playback request is authorised against your session before a link is issued.
- Links are short-lived, scoped to one file and one action, and re-checked on every request.
- There is no public link feature, no share button, and no directory listing.
What gettor will not do with your files
From the terms, verbatim in effect: we do not make your files public, sell them, hand them to advertisers, or use them to train machine-learning models.
Note: Staff can act on a specific file when a valid copyright notice names it, and an account can be disabled for abuse. Those are the exceptions, and both are written into the policies rather than being discretionary.
What gettor collects about you
An email address, what you fetched, what your account used, and server logs kept for 30 days.
The privacy policy is the authoritative version; this is the shape of it.
| What | Why | Kept for |
|---|---|---|
| Your email address and display name | To have an account at all | 30 days after closure |
| Transfers and library contents | To run the service | Until you delete them |
| Usage against your plan limits | To enforce the limits | With the account |
| Server and security logs | To keep the service up and safe | 30 days |
| Invoices, once billing opens | Tax law | As law requires |
| Referral attribution, if used | To pay rewards and spot abuse | With the account |
Who else touches it
Named subprocessors, listed in the policy: netcup for servers and file storage, Hostinger for mail, and Google for optional sign-in and the bot check. A payment provider joins the list before it takes a payment.
Note: Referral sign-up addresses are kept both as the address and as a one-way hash. The hash is what lets a hundred accounts from one place be noticed without keeping a hundred readable addresses.
