Moving files between folders
Folders and organisingMoving files between folders; Selecting several files at once.
The move action opens a folder picker. Choose a destination and confirm; the rows disappear from the current listing and appear in the target.
Two moves that are refused
- “A folder cannot be moved into itself.”
- “A folder cannot be moved into one of its own subfolders.”
Both would create a loop with no parent, orphaning everything inside. The check runs before anything is changed, so a refused move leaves your library exactly as it was.
Note: Moving never changes how much storage you use. The bytes are in the same place; only the row that points at them has moved.
Selecting several files at once
Tick rows to act on them together — move, delete, or take the selection as a ZIP.
Each row has a checkbox. Tick two or more and a bar appears with the actions that apply to the whole selection, along with a count so you can see what you are about to affect.
What you can do with a selection
- Move everything into one folder.
- Delete everything at once.
- Download the selection as a single ZIP.
Careful: A bulk delete is as permanent as a single one, and the count in the confirmation is the number to read before agreeing to it.
