Deleting files and folders
DeletingDeleting files and folders; Files that vanished on their own.
The trash action on a row deletes it. Deleting a folder deletes everything inside it. You are asked to confirm first, and after that there is no recovery.
There is no bin
gettor does not keep a deleted copy anywhere. Nothing can be restored, by you or by support, and any download or playback link for that file stops working immediately.
What it gives back
- Storage — immediately, and visible in the meter at the top of the page.
- Room for new transfers that were blocked by a full library.
Careful: It does not give back downloads-and-streaming allowance for bytes already delivered to you.
Files that vanished on their own
Three things remove files without you asking: retention expiry, a plan change, and a takedown.
gettor does not delete things at random, and it never deletes because you reached a storage limit. Exactly three things remove files on their own.
1. Retention expiry
On the Free plan, files are kept for 7 days from when they land and then expire. Paid plans have no expiry while the subscription is active.
2. A plan ending or shrinking
When a paid plan ends, files that had no expiry are given a short recovery window and then expire. The exact days depend on whether the plan was cancelled, failed to renew, or was moved to a smaller one.
3. A copyright takedown
Content removed after a valid complaint is deleted from your library, and you are emailed about it with the subject “Content removed from your gettor library”.
Tip: If files vanished and none of the three fits, check the account page — it shows your current plan and whether anything is in a grace period.
