How this differs from running a torrent client
What gettor isThe fetching happens on someone else’s machine, which changes what your connection does and what stays running.
A torrent client uses your device and connection. gettor fetches remotely and stores the finished files in your library.
| Local client | gettor | |
|---|---|---|
| Talks to the swarm | Your connection | gettor’s servers |
| Needs to stay running | Yes — the app and the machine | No |
| Where files land | Your disk | Your library, then your disk on demand |
| Software to install | Yes | None — a browser is enough |
| Works on a phone or a locked-down laptop | Rarely | Yes |
What you give up
Plans set storage, torrent size and monthly downloads and streaming. Fetching has no separate monthly quota.
