When you cannot sign in
Signing inWhen you cannot sign in; Resetting a forgotten password.
- Check which method the account uses. An account created with Google has no gettor password, so the email-and-password form will never accept it.
- Tick the bot check again — a completed one expires after a few minutes.
- Confirm the email address, including which of your addresses you actually signed up with.
- Reset the password if you are unsure of it. It is quicker than guessing.
- If you have two-factor on, make sure you are entering the current code and not one that has just rolled over.
If it says the account is disabled
That is a deliberate state rather than a fault, and signing in again will not clear it. See “This account has been disabled”.
Note: gettor does not lock an account after failed attempts, so you cannot lock yourself out by trying.
Resetting a forgotten password
Request a link from the sign-in page; it arrives by email and is single-use.
A reset link is emailed to you and works once. You do not need to know the old password.
- On the sign-in page, choose the forgotten-password link.
- Enter your account email address.
- Open the message titled “Reset your gettor password”.
- Follow the link and set a new password of at least eight characters.
If nothing arrives
- Check the spam folder — a first message from a new sender often lands there.
- Make sure you used the address the account was created with.
- If the account signs in with Google, there is no password and no reset email will be sent.
Note: Setting a new password signs out every other session on the account. That is intentional: a reset is the action you take when you think someone else may have access.
